MY STORY
I was drawn to sports media during my high school years. After joining my high school’s student media club, my goal was to be in front of the camera, calling sporting events, telling student-athlete stories, and becoming a sports voice. With my goal of being a voice that drew listeners to an event, I began sports commentating for several sports during my junior year at Neuqua High School in Naperville, IL.
However, as I transitioned from a high school senior to a college freshman, I realized most of my collegiate peers wanted to be in front of the camera, rather than telling stories behind it. As my passion for broadcasting subsided at Ball State, I pivoted to video production and the art of storytelling. Learning from professors and collaborating with fellow students, within Ball State’s nation-leading Sports Link Media Department, I found my voice and what I consider my calling. Soon, I realized I was empowered to provide a platform for athletes to tell their stories. As a content provider and video producer on the cusp of my professional career, I realize my calling is to provide a voice for the athlete who is often overlooked, the sport that is often discounted, and for the story that far too few hear.
